Dr. Jason Sanders - Piedmont Retina Specialists
Jason Sanders, MD

Dr. Jason Sanders is an experienced, board certified Retina surgeon. He has been performing specialized retinal care in private practice since 2005. Dr. Sanders holds degrees from Clemson University, The Medical University of South Carolina, The University of Tennessee and the University of Iowa. After graduation, he practiced in Charlotte for four years before returning home to Greensboro to found Piedmont Retina Specialists in 2009.

Dr. Sanders' single focus is to protect patients against diseases of the retina and to provide expert therapy. He has participated in over 19 clinical trials studying the latest advances in the care of retinal disease.

 

Dr. Charles Richards - Piedmont Retina Specialists
Charles Richards, MD

Dr. Charles Richards is an experienced, board certified Retina surgeon with degrees from Emory University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Richards received his ophthalmology training at Wake Forest University Eye Center and completed a retina fellowship at the University of Virginia. After four years of delivering top notch retina care as a faculty member at Wake Forest, he brings his skills and expertise to Piedmont Retina. He has been involved in many clinical trials for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Richards looks forward to continuing to provide excellent retina care here in his home community, the Piedmont Triad.
 

Dr. Nathan Haines - Piedmont Retina Specialists
Nathan Haines, MD

Dr. Nathan Haines is a board certified vitreoretinal surgeon. After growing up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he attended Allegheny College, where he graduated summa cum laude, earning a B.S. in Biochemistry. He then obtained his M.D. degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. Dr. Haines received his ophthalmology training at Wake Forest University Eye Center and completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Colorado. His interests within the retina field include diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, sutured intraocular lenses, and ocular trauma. Outside of medicine, Dr. Haines is an avid golfer and guitarist.

Dr. Kishan Govind - Piedmont Retina Specialists
Kishan Govind, MD

Kishan Govind, MD is a board certified retina specialist. He grew up in upstate South Carolina and attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where he graduated summa cum laude, earning a B.S. in Biology and minor in Business. He then obtained his M.D. degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Govind received his ophthalmology training at the Wake Forest University Eye Center and completed a medical retina fellowship at the Duke Eye Center. His interests within the retina field include diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, and retinal tears. Dr. Govind enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and 2 children – usually grilling, hiking, or bug exploring!

Dr. Eric W. Weldy - Piedmont Retina Specialists
Eric W. Weldy, MD

Dr. Eric Weldy joins Piedmont Retina in August, 2023. Dr. Eric Weldy is a board certified ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in vitreoretinal surgery. He attended Lee University and the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. Dr. Weldy received his ophthalmology training at the University of Colorado, and he completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at University of Kentucky/Retina Associates of Kentucky. He is also fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Weldy enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. Dr. Weldy and his family are thrilled to call the Piedmont Triad home.
